Starz Acquires Drama 'MotherFatherSon' Starring Richard Gere

Starz has today acquired the U.S. linear rights to the original drama series MotherFatherSon starring Richard Gere (Chicago, Pretty Woman). The eight episode season has also been slated to debut later this week.

Gere stars as Max Finch, who owns one of the world's most influential media empires. Information is his trade: he holds dark secrets on everyone, and uses his power ruthlessly. His son Caden is editor of Max's mouthpiece, The National newspaper. But Caden is crumbling under the pressure of his father's expectations, numbing his pain with cocaine and intense anonymous sex. When Caden's excess causes a massive stroke, he's left like a helpless child. For Kathryn - Max's estranged wife - this is a chance to reconnect with the sensitive boy Max ripped away from her. As Max and Kathryn fight for the soul of their son, another fight is about to begin, a fight for the heart of the nation. Because Caden knows secrets that could bring Max's empire crashing down. And Caden's silence can't be bought.

The drama also stars Helen McCrory, Billy Howle, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Sinéad Cusack, Joseph Mawle, Paul Ready, Danny Sapani, Sarah Lancashire, Elena Anaya, Niamh Algar and Ciarán Hinds.

Tom Rob Smith created the drama. He executive produces with Alan Poul, Hilary Salmon and Elizabeth Kilgarriff. Charles Sturridge and James Kent direct the season. BBC Studios produces.

The 8-episode first season will premiere on the premium cable channel on Friday, June 21 at 10/9c.
