Showtime Renews 'The L Word: Generation Q' and 'Work in Progress' for Second Seasons

During its presentation at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, Showtime renewed its original series The L Word: Generation Q and Work in Progress for second seasons. Both shows will be back for 10 episodes apiece, up two from their respective first seasons.

The L Word: Generation Q stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, Leisha Hailey, Arienne Mandi, Sepideh Moafi, Leo Sheng, Jacqueline Toboni and Rosanny Zayas.

Marja-Lewis Ryan developed the sequel series. She executive produces with Beals, Moennig, Hailey, Ilene Chaiken, Steph Green, Allyce Ozarski and Kristen Campo.

"The L Word: Generation Q took our original series that was revered and reinvigorated it for a new generation and a new era," said Gary Levine, Co-President, Showtime Entertainment. "The result has been a show that appeals to all generations for its relevance, its fearlessness, its emotion and its fun. I can't wait to see what Marja, along with Ilene and this talented ensemble, will deliver for season two."

Work in Progress stars Abby McEnany, Karin Anglin, Celeste Pechous, Theo Germaine and Julia Sweeney.

McEnany co-created the comedy with Tim Mason and Lilly Wachowski. They executive produce with Sweeney, Lawrence Mattis, Josh Adler, Ashley Berns and Tony Hernandez.

"We could not be more gratified that both critics and viewers are responding to the spark of creativity and original point of view that blew us away when we first saw the pilot that screened at Sundance last year," said Jana Winograde, Co-President, Showtime Entertainment. "We fell in love with Abby at first sight, and are eager to share in the laughter (and tears) that she, Tim and Lilly will undoubtedly evoke in season two."
