Development News - Shannyn Sossamon to Star in 'The Cleaning Lady'; Rose McIver Books Lead in 'Ghosts'; Plus 5 More Updates!

CBS' Ghosts & Ways & Means; FOX's The Cleaning Lady & This Country; and NBC's At That Age, Echo & La Brea.





NBC's ECHO
  • Wesam Keesh has been cast as a series regular on the drama pilot starring Janina Gavankar and Reid Scott. He previously starred for two seasons in ABC's For the People and is currently recurring on NBC's Good Girls.
  • He will play Riley Burnside, an FBI agent with an enormous intellect and big heart.
FOX's THE CLEANING LADY
  • Shannyn Sossamon will play the lead role in the drama pilot written by Miranda Kwok. She previously starred for two seasons in FOX's Wayward Pines and one season in FOX's Sleepy Hollow.
  • She will play Reyna Salonga, a whip-smart Filipina doctor, who comes to the United States for a medical treatment to save her ailing son. When the system fails and pushes her into hiding, she refuses to be beaten down and marginalized. Instead, she becomes an on-call cleaning lady for the mob. Willing to do anything to save her son, Reyna walks the tightrope of morality, breaking the law for all the right reasons - and eventually forges her own path in the criminal underworld as she starts playing the game by her own rules.
NBC's AT THAT AGE
  • Emayatzy Corinealdi has joined the cast of the drama pilot written by Carla Banks-Waddles. She previously starred for two seasons in Amazon's Hand of God and in the CBS limited series The Red Line. She has also recurred on HBO's Ballers.
  • She will play Victoria Cooper-Hargrove, an attorney who is the poised and overachieving middle child.
FOX's THIS COUNTRY
  • Chelsea Holmes and Sam Straley are set for the lead roles in the comedy pilot written by Jenny Bicks. Taylor Ortega and Krystal Smith have also been cast today. Holmes and Smith are relative newcomers. Straley starred in ABC's one-season comedy The Kids Are Alright. Ortega starred in the Disney Channel original film Kim Possible
  • Holmes will play Kelly, an outwardly tough young adult who's actually a softie. She yearns to reconnect with her father and has the dreams of an entrepreneur.
  • Straley will play Shrub, Kelly's cousin and best friend who has a soul of an artist. He has some anger issues but deep down is a romantic who dreams of falling in love and going to art school.
  • Ortega will play Nadine, Shrub and Kelly's old high school classmate who is beautiful, successful and married to Kelly's old crush, Dylan. She is the big fish in the small pond of Flatch.
  • Smith will play Big Mandy, a menacing town presence who loves tattoos and her two dogs.
CBS' GHOSTS
  • Rose McIver has booked the lead role on the comedy pilot written by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. She previously starred for five seasons in The CW's iZombie.
  • She will play Samantha, a put together, type A personality who loves fun, but not as much as she loves planning fun. A freelance journalist, she and her sous chef husband, Ryan, spend so much time trying to make ends meet that they barely have time for each other. When she inherits a massive country estate, she's eager to move there, rent free. A great listener and a genuinely good person, Sam strives to help the ghosts, even while being driven a bit crazy by their constant clamoring for her attention.
CBS' WAYS & MEANS
  • Troian Bellisario has landed the female lead on the drama pilot starring Patrick Dempsey. She previously starred for seven seasons in Freeform's Pretty Little Liars.
  • She will play Claire, a newly elected, progressive, idealistic Democratic Congresswoman who leads with her intelligence and straightforwardness. She's going to have to figure out how to merge her idealism with her ambition. She will either change Congress, or Congress will change her.
NBC's LA BREA
  • Jon Seda is returning to NBC as a series regular on the drama pilot starring Michael Raymond-James and Natalie Zea. He previously starred for six seasons in NBC's Chicago P.D. 
  • He will play Dr. Benjamin Glass, a former Navy SEAL who knows how to take charge.
