'Joe Exotic' Limited Series Starring Kate McKinnon to Air on NBC, USA and Peacock

NBCUniversal has today made a huge commitment to the limited series Joe Exotic starring Emmy winner Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live). The 8-part series will air as a cross-platform venture on NBC, USA Network and streamer Peacock.

Based on the Wondery podcast Over My Dead Body, the true crime series follows Carole Baskin (McKinnon), a big cat enthusiast, who learns that fellow exotic animal lover Joe "Exotic" Schreibvogel is breeding and using his big cats for profit. She sets out to shut down his venture, inciting a quickly escalating rivalry. But Carole has a checkered past of her own. When the claws come out, Joe will stop at nothing to expose what he sees as her hypocrisy. The results prove dangerous.

Etan Frankel (Sorry for Your Loss, Shameless) is writing the series. He will executive produce with McKinnon, Hernan Lopez, Marshall Lewy and Aaron Hart. Universal Content Productions will produce.

The story of Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic was previously documented in the Emmy-nominated docuseries Tiger King earlier this year on Netflix.
