CBS All Access Announces Premiere Date for Limited Series 'The Stand' Starring Alexander Skarsgård and Whoopi Goldberg

CBS All Access has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original limited series The Stand based on the acclaimed novel by Stephen King.







The 9-episode season will premiere on Thursday, December 17 - with new episodes being released weekly.

The limited series depicts Stephen King's apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abigail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.

The cast features James Marsden, Alexander Skarsgård, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Amber Heard, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga, Brad William Henke, Irene Bedard, Nat Wolff, Eion Bailey, Heather Graham, Katherine McNamara, Fiona Dourif, Natalie Martinez, Hamish Linklater, Daniel Sunjata, Greg Kinnear and Whoopi Goldberg.

Benjamin Cavell developed the series. He executive produces with King, Taylor Elmore, Will Weiske, Jimmy Miller, Roy Lee, Richard P. Rubinstein and director Josh Boone. CBS Television Studios produces.
