BET+ Movie 'Sacrifice' Starring Paula Patton Receives Series Order

In December 2019, BET+ released the original film Sacrifice starring Paula Patton. And now, the project has been given an official series order - producing 10 episodes for its first season.

Set in Los Angeles, the drama follows Daniella Hernandez (Patton), a highly sought-after entertainment lawyer, as she navigates the nefarious lives of her rich and famous clients.

In addition to Patton, returning cast members for the series include Marques Houston, James Trevena Brown, Veronika Bozeman, Altonio Jackson, Liliana Montenegro, Michael Toland and Nelson Bonilla.

Actors from the movie not returning for the series include Erica Ash, Juan Antonio and Josué Ramon Gutierrez. It is currently unclear if any of their roles will be recast.

Chris Stokes wrote and directed the film, with Kevin Arkadie set as showrunner for the series. They will executive produce with Patton and Houston. Footage Films will produce. It was not announced today whether the series will continue as a BET+ original or will move to the linear channel BET.

"We're thrilled to expand our hit movie, Sacrifice, into a compelling new original series," said Traci Blackwell, Executive Vice President of Scripted Programming, BET. "We look forward to working with Footage Films, Paula and the talented multicultural cast again and joining forces with acclaimed executive producer Kevin Arkadie, in providing viewers with more of the fresh and engaging storytelling they expect from our brand."

"I am excited to reprise the role of Daniella Hernandez, her strength and ability to overcome incredible challenges is inspiring, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue working with BET," added Patton. "It is a wonderful experience to work with our cast and crew to create characters and stories that entertain and move people."
