Casting News - Derek Webster to Co-Star on 'Mayor of Kingstown'; 'Paper Girls' Sets Young Leads; Plus 2 More Updates!

Casting News - April 26, 2021

Amazon's Paper Girls; AppleTV+'s WeCrashed; Disney+'s Willow; and Paramount+'s Mayor of Kingstown.

PARAMOUNT+'s MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN
  • Derek Webster and Taylor Handley will co-star on the upcoming drama starring Jeremy Renner and Dianne Wiest. Webster starred in the first season of The CW's In the Dark and is currently recurring on FOX's 9-1-1: Lone Star. Handley starred in FOX's one-season drama APB.
  • Webster will play Stevie, a Kingstown police officer.
  • Handley will play Kyle McClusky, the younger brother of Mayor Mike McClusky (Renner). He is a police officer trying to become a trooper.
DISNEY+'s WILLOW
  • Amer Chadha-Patel has joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Warwick Davis. He has previously recurred on IFC's Year of the Rabbit and HBO's The Third Day.
  • He will play Boorman, a thief and liar who joins the central quest in exchange for getting out of prison.
AMAZON's PAPER GIRLS
  • Sofia Rosinsky, Camryn Jones, Riley Lai Nelet and Fina Strazza will play the four young leads on the upcoming drama created by Stephany Folsom. Rosinsky previously starred in Disney's one-season comedy Fast Layne. Jones has recurred on Epix's Perpetual Grace, LTD and OWN's Cherish the Day. Lai Nelet has recurred on Netflix's Altered Carbon. Strazza has guest starred on CBS' Madam Secretary and NBC's Law & Order: SVU.
  • Rosinsky will play Mac Coyle, a working-class Catholic girl. She is the first paper boy in Stony Stream who isn't a boy. She inherited the paper route from her older brother, someone for whom she has undying loyalty and love... which might be the wrong place to put it. Her toughness however is no act, she has a sharp tongue and quicker fists. Like most bullies though, Mac is perhaps masking a deep well of insecurity. Usually a loner by choice, events conspire to cast Mac as the unlikely leader of our Paper Girls on Hell Day 1988.
  • Jones will play Tiffany Quilkin, the only child of success-oriented, mixed race parents. She has big plans for her future and no intention of seeing them derailed. While she is at times willing to improve on the truth when in a tight spot, there is no denying that Tiffany is crazy smart. She boasts an encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture, a love of gadgets and technology. She has been delivering papers for a little over a year.
  • Lai Nelet will play Erin Tieng, a dutiful daughter, sister and newly-minted newspaper employee. She often feels caught between worlds. On the one hand, she's a dual-language immigrant with deep Chinese roots. On the other, she's an All-American kid on the verge of her teenage years who desperately wants the TV-perfect life she often sees depicted in the Western culture around her.
  • Strazza will play KJ Brandman, one of the only Jewish girls in Stony Stream and from the wealthiest family in town, two things nobody will let her forget. It is perhaps only when playing field hockey that she feels truly seen - an image that conflicts starkly with her mother's desires for her. She is guarded, sensitive and underneath her veneer, emotionally roiling. She doesn't need the paper-delivery job, but it makes her feel free.
APPLE TV+'s WECRASHED
  • Kyle Marvin has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming limited series starring Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway. He co-wrote and starred in the 2019 feature film The Climb.
  • He will play Miguel McKelvey, the co-founder of WeWork.
