ABC Picks Up Drama 'Queens' and Comedies 'Abbott Elementary,' 'Maggie' and 'The Wonder Years' to Series

ABC has today given series orders to the original drama series Queens as well as the original comedy series Abbott Elementary, Maggie and The Wonder Years.

ABBOTT ELEMENTARY - A group of dedicated, passionate teachers - and a slightly tone-deaf principal - are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do - even if they don't love the school district's less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.

The comedy stars Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph.

Brunson wrote the pilot, which was directed by Randall Einhorn. They executive produce with Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker. Warner Bros. Television, 20th Television and Delicious Non-Sequitur Productions produce.

MAGGIE - A young woman tries to cope with life as a psychic. Maggie regularly sees the fate of her friends, parents, clients and random strangers on the street, but when she suddenly sees a glimpse of her own future, Maggie is forced to start living in her own present.

The comedy stars Rebecca Rittenhouse, David Del Rio, Nichole Sakura, Angelique Cabral, Leonardo Nam, Ray Ford, Chloe Bridges, Kerri Kenney and Chris Elliott.

Maggie Mull and Justin Adler wrote the pilot, which was directed by Natalia Anderson. They executive produce with Evan Hayes and Jeff Morton. 20th Television produces.

QUEENS - Estranged and out-of-touch, four women in their 40s reunite for a chance to recapture their fame and regain the swagger they had as the Nasty Bitches - their '90s group that made them legends in the hip-hop world.

The drama stars Eve, Naturi Naughton, Nadine Velazquez, Taylor Selé, Pepi Sonuga and Brandy.

Zahir McGhee wrote the pilot, which was directed by Tim Story. They executive produce with Sabrina Wind. ABC Signature produces.

THE WONDER YEARS - Inspired by the classic series of the same name, the coming-of-age story set in the late 1960s takes a nostalgic look at a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama through the point-of-view of imaginative 12-year-old Dean. With the wisdom of his adult years, Dean's hopeful and humorous recollections show how his family found their "wonder years" in a turbulent time.

The comedy stars Elisha "EJ" Williams, Dulé Hill, Saycon Sengbloh, Laura Kariuki, Julian Lerner, Amari O'Neil and Milan Ray, with Don Cheadle narrating.

Saladin Patterson wrote the pilot, with Fred Savage - who starred in the original series - directing. They executive produce with Lee Daniels and Marc Velez. 20th Television and Lee Daniels Entertainment produce.
