Casting News - June 21, 2021

Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel; HBO's Untitled Los Angeles Lakers Drama; HBO Max's Our Flag Means Death; Paramount+'s The Good Fight; and Starz's Power Book II: Ghost.

STARZ's POWER BOOK II: GHOST
  • Paton Ashbrook, Berto Colon and Alix Lapri have been promoted to series regulars for the drama's upcoming second season. All three previously recurred on the first season - with Ashbrook and Lapri appearing in 3 episodes while Colon appeared in 5 episodes. Moreover, Lahmard Tate will reprise his Power role on a recurring basis in the new season of the spinoff.
  • Ashbrook plays Jenny Sullivan. After the U.S. Attorney's office swooped in on her high-profile Tasha St. Patrick (Naturi Naughton) case, she went back to the status quo. That is, until Stansfield University professor, Jabari Reynolds (Justin Marcel McManus), is murdered. Now, Jenny is back in the spotlight, with an eye toward prosecuting his killer - whoever that may be. Little does she know that the killer's new defense attorney - Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson), now working with Davis MacLean (Clifford "Method Man" Smith) - is sharing her bed, with access to her briefcase. Let the games begin.
  • Colon plays Lorenzo Tejada, the patriarch of the Tejada organization who has been calling the shots for the drug organization - even from inside. But as Monet (Mary J. Blige) continues to flex her independence - and a desire to protect her kids from the game - Lorenzo's need to control brings them into conflict. He becomes intrigued by some secrets Monet has been keeping from him - and a conflict grows that threatens to split the Tejada family in two.
  • Lapri plays Effie Morales, a Yale student no stranger to drama. Her quest to financial freedom via drug dealing leads her to big competition - her former Choate classmates Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) and Brayden (Gianni Paolo). But when Effie decides to join forces with them again, she will be forced to determine where her loyalties lie - with herself and herself only, or with people who have shown their true colors time an time again.
  • Tate plays Kamaal Tate. Once again, he is doling out brotherly advice following Rashad's (Larenz Tate) gubernatorial loss. And for once, it seems to take as Kamaal watches his little brother take on a new role serving the people. Until Kamaal is brought in on the investigation at Stansfield and he finds himself with a front-row seat for another one of Rashad's escapades - but this time, Kamaal's own career may be on the line.

  • Epps will play Richard Pryor, the prolific and boundary-breaking comedian who lived the Hollywood dream, sometimes in excess.
