Peacock Gives Series Order to Drama 'Dead Day' Created by Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson

Peacock has today given a series order to the original drama series Dead Day created by Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson - who previously co-created The CW's The Vampire Diaries. An episode count was not immediately announced.

Based on the comic book by Ryan Parrott, the drama will follow an ensemble of characters as they navigate the annual "dead day," when for one night the dead come back to complete unfinished business - be that to celebrate a night back on Earth or to torment the living.

Plec and Williamson will executive produce with Ben Fast, Emily Cummins, Lee Kramer, Jon Kramer and David Sigurani. Parrott will serve as a consulting producer. Universal Television, Aftershock Media, My So-Called Company and Outerbanks Entertainment will produce.

"Dead Day combines an exciting, high-concept premise with relatable characters and real emotion," said Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. "We jumped at the opportunity to work with Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson, who not only have tremendous individual track records with their high-quality storytelling, but have created magic together before."
