Casting News - Oscar Nominee Ciarán Hinds Boards 'Treason'; Sean Astin to Recur on 'Young Rock'; Plus 1 More Update!

NBC's Young Rock; Netflix's Treason; and Starz's Power Book II: Ghost.






NETFLIX's TREASON
  • Ciarán Hinds has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming drama starring Charlie Cox, Olga Kurylenko and Oona Chaplin. He is currently nominated for an Academy Award for his supporting performance in the film Belfast.
  • He will play Sir Martin Angelis, the boss and mentor of Adam Lawrence (Cox).
STARZ's POWER BOOK II: GHOST
  • Gbenga Akinnagbe, Kyle Vincent Terry and Caroline Chikezie have booked recurring roles on the drama's upcoming third season. Akinnagbe previously starred for two seasons in HBO's The Deuce and next stars in FX's upcoming drama The Old Man opposite Jeff Bridges. Terry guest starred on ABC's For Life, NBC's Blindspot and Netflix's Halston. Chikezie starred in the Nigerian limited series The Governor, which streams on Netflix.
  • Akinnagbe will play Ron Samuel Jenkins aka RSJ, a Howard University and Harvard Business School alum who grew up working class and built his own legitimate empire that has firmly entrenched him among the business elite.
  • Terry will play Obi, a young man schooled in Britain who knows his way around a gun, but is equally comfortable in a boardroom.
  • Chikezie will play Noma, a worldly and powerful woman with a regal presence who has built her wealth with an illicit global empire and is not afraid to protect it by any means necessary.
NBC's YOUNG ROCK
  • Sean Astin will appear in a recurring role on the comedy's upcoming second season. He previously starred in the first season of FX's The Strain and the second season of Netflix's Stranger Things. He has also recurred on CBS' The Big Bang Theory and The CW's Supergirl. And finally, he recurs on the upcoming second season of HBO's Perry Mason.
  • He will play Dr. Julian Echo in the show's 2032 timeline. Having run-ins with Dwayne as a kid, Julian is now a chiropractor from Minnesota who holds a grudge. He reappears two weeks before election day, claiming that Dwayne (Dwayne Johnson) tried to kill him, a revelation that threatens to derail the Johnson presidential campaign.
