Freeform Slots Premiere Dates for 'Cruel Summer,' 'Grown-ish' and 'Praise Petey'

Freeform has today announced the premiere dates for three of its original series this summer - the final season of Grown-ish, the second season of Cruel Summer and the new animated comedy Praise Petey.






The second season of Cruel Summer will premiere on Monday, June 5 at 9/8c. with back-to-back episodes. Regular episodes will air in the 10/9c. time slot. New episodes will be available on Hulu the next day.

Set in an idyllic waterfront town in the Pacific Northwest, the new season follows the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship. Approaching the story from three different timelines surrounding Y2K, the season twists and turns as it tracks the early friendship between Megan, Isabella and Megan's best friend Luke, the love triangle that blossomed, and the mystery that would impact all of their lives going forward.

The drama stars Sadie Stanley, Lexi Underwood, Griffin Gluck, KaDee Strickland, Lisa Yamada, Sean Blakemore, Paul Adelstein and Braeden De La Garza. 

Bert V. Royal created the drama, with Elle Triedman serving as showrunner. They executive produce with Jessica Biel, Michelle Purple, Bill Purple and Tia Napolitano. eOne and Iron Ocean Productions produce.


The first half of the sixth and final season of Grown-ish will launch on Wednesday, June 28 at 10/9c. New episodes will be available on Hulu the next day.

After following in his big sister Zoey's footsteps and taking on her alma mater, Andre Johnson Jr., aka Junior, makes moves to step out of his sister's shadow and become a big man on campus.

The comedy stars Marcus Scribner, Yara Shahidi, Trevor Jackson, Diggy Simmons, Daniella Perkins, Justine Skye and Tara Raani.

Craig Doyle serves as showrunner for the sixth and final season. He executive produces with Shahidi, Kenya Barris, Anthony Anderson, Laurence Fishburne, Helen Sugland, E. Brian Dobbins and Michael Petok. ABC Signature produces.


Freeform will make its animated debut with new series Praise Petey premiering on Friday, July 21 at 10/9c. with back-to-back episodes. New episodes will be available on Hulu the next day.

The series follows Petey, a New York City "it" girl who has it all until her life comes crashing down around her. As luck would have it, a mysterious gift from her father gives her a new lease on life: She's going to "lean into" modernizing his small-town cult.

The voice cast features Annie Murphy, John Cho, Kiersey Clemons, Stephen Root, Amy Hill and Christine Baranski. 

Anna Drezen created the series. She executive produces with Mike Judge, Greg Daniels, Dustin Davis, Alex Bulkley, Corey Campodonico and Monica Padrick. 20th Television Animation, Bandera Entertainment and ShadowMachine produce.
