From June 12 to 23, 2025, voting is taking place for The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. As such, it's fun to look at which actors and shows have the best chances of actually being nominated this year. So, these are my predictions for which performers will be nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
Performers most likely to be nominated:
- Jean Smart for Max's Hacks
- Ayo Edebiri for FX's The Bear
- Quinta Brunson for ABC's Abbott Elementary
- Selena Gomez for Hulu's Only Murders in the Building
- Natasha Lyonne for Peacock's Poker Face
Serious threats that could break through:
- Kristen Bell for Netflix's Nobody Wants This
- Tina Fey for Netflix's The Four Seasons
- Kathryn Hahn for Disney+'s Agatha All Along
- Uzo Aduba for Netflix's The Residence
- Natasia Demetriou for FX's What We Do In the Shadows
Some considerable long-shots:
- Kate Hudson for Netflix's Running Point
- Bridget Everett for HBO's Somebody Somewhere
- Lisa Kudrow for Netflix's No Good Deed
- Harriet Dyer for Paramount+'s Colin From Accounts
- Edi Patterson for HBO's The Righteous Gemstones
- Wally Baram for Prime Video's Overcompensating
Colorful oddities that still have an outside chance:
- Reba McEntire for NBC's Happy's Place
- Wendi McLendon-Covey and Allison Tolman for NBC's St. Denis Medical
- Rose McIver for CBS' Ghosts
- Emily Osment for CBS' Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage
- Kat Dennings for ABC's Shifting Gears
The nominations for The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, July 15. The winners will be awarded in a ceremony airing on CBS and Paramount+ and hosted by stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze on Sunday, September 14.
