Emmy Predictions 2025 - Who Will Likely Be Nominated for Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie?

From June 12 to 23, 2025, voting is taking place for The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. As such, it's fun to look at which actors and shows have the best chances of actually being nominated this year. So, these are my predictions for which performers will be nominated for Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Performers most likely to be nominated:
  1. Michelle Williams for FX's Dying for Sex
  2. Cristin Milioti for HBO's The Penguin
  3. Renée Zellweger for Peacock's Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
  4. Cate Blanchett for AppleTV+'s Disclaimer
  5. Kaitlyn Dever for Netflix's Apple Cider Vinegar
Serious threats that could break through:
  1. Ari Graynor for Netflix's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
  2. Rashida Jones for Netflix's Black Mirror
  3. Ellen Pompeo for Hulu's Good American Family
  4. Lola Petticrew for FX's Say Nothing
  5. Amanda Seyfried for Peacock's Long Bright River
Some considerable long-shots:
  1. Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram for AppleTV+'s Lady in the Lake
  2. Meghann Fahy for Netflix's Sirens
  3. Jessica Biel for Prime Video's The Better Sister
  4. Ruth Wilson for Prime Video's A Very Royal Scandal
  5. Uzo Aduba, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Sanaa Lathan for Hulu's The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat
Colorful oddities that still have an outside chance:
  1. Viola Davis for Prime Video's G20
  2. Betty Gilpin for Netflix's American Primeval
  3. Shailene Woodley for Starz's Three Women
  4. Cleopatra Coleman for FX's Clipped
  5. Tamara Lawrance for HBO's Get Millie Black

The nominations for The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, July 15. The winners will be awarded in a ceremony airing on CBS and Paramount+ and hosted by stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze on Sunday, September 14.
