Starz has today given a series order to the original drama series Fightland created by Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr. Production on the eight-episode first season will begin this fall in London.
The drama will follow a disgraced, formerly incarcerated boxing champion who returns to London to seek vengeance against the crime family he thinks betrayed him. With edge-of-seat action and populated by dangerous characters, this is a world of money and power never seen before.
Macedon and Jackson Jr. will serve as co-showrunners. They will also executive produce with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Francis Hopkinson, Kate Leadbetter, Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith. G-Unit Film & Television and Expanded Media will produce.
"Fightland marks my first internationally produced show through my G-Unit Film & Television," said 50 Cent. "I am excited to bring that global energy to the screen. I anticipate this to be more successful than anything I've done before - boxing's raw stakes are gonna take it to another level."
