After a highly competitive bidding war, Paramount+ has landed the original drama series Discretion starring Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies, Lioness) and Elle Fanning (The Great, A Complete Unknown) with a straight-to-series order. Production on the eight-episode first season will begin in 2026.
The legal thriller will follow a summer associate Lenny (Fanning) at a prestigious Dallas law firm who uncovers a web of NDAs masking a dark truth. When she realizes she signed the same agreement, her discoveries put her in the crosshairs of the firm's most powerful female partner Sharon (Kidman) - upending their mentor-protégé dynamic and raising the question: who gets to keep secrets, and at what cost?
Chandler Baker created the drama. She will executive produce with Kidman, Fanning, Susannah Grant, Per Saari, Dakota Fanning, Brittany Kahan Ward, Joe Hipps and Jordan Cerf. A24, Blossom Films, Lewellen Pictures and Linden Entertainment will produce.
Discretion marks the second consecutive TV series set to star Kidman and Fanning. The pair will also star in and executive produce the upcoming AppleTV+ drama Margo's Got Money Troubles created by David E. Kelley. They also starred together in the 2017 feature films The Beguiled and How to Talk to Girls at Parties.
The legal thriller also becomes the first original productions ordered under Paramount+'s new leadership team of Cindy Holland, Chair of Direct-to-Consumer, and Jane Wiseman, Head of Originals.
