Earlier this month, Paramount+ announced it will become the new streaming home for BET content starting in June. Today, the streamer renewed the original comedy series The Ms. Pat Show for a sixth season - making it one of the first BET originals to produce content for Paramount+.
The sitcom follows a former drug dealer and convicted felon turned suburban mom. The series showcases the matriarch navigating life with her outspoken, multi-generational African American family. Across five seasons, the series has boldly reimagined the traditional sitcom format, blending sharp comedy with cultural commentary while tackling complex topics including addiction, abortion, racism, sexual abuse, trans issues, immigration, generational trauma, non-binary pronouns, Black hair, school shootings and systemic inequities, all delivered with Ms. Pat's signature humor and unapologetic candor.
The comedy stars Patricia "Ms. Pat" Williams-Lee, J. Bernard Calloway, Tami Roman, Vince Swann, Briyana Guadalupe, Theodore John Barnes and Brittany Inge.
Ms. Pat co-created the comedy with Jordan E. Cooper. They executive produce with Brian Grazer, Lee Daniels, Jon Radler, Deb Evans, Patrick Walsh, Rose Catherine Pinkney and director Mary Lou Belli. Imagine Entertainment, Cookout Entertainment and Lee Daniels Entertainment produce.
The eight-episode fifth season was released weekly on BET+ earlier this year, with the finale on February 11.
