Peacock Cancels "Law & Order: Organized Crime" After 5 Seasons

Peacock has today confirmed that the original drama series Law & Order: Organized Crime will not be back for a sixth season. The drama ended its run after 75 episodes on June 12, 2025.

The drama's fifth season starred Christopher Meloni, Danielle Moné Truitt, Ainsley Seiger, Rick Gonzalez and Dean Norris.

John Shiban served as showrunner on the fifth season. He executive produced with Meloni, Dick Wolf, Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski. Universal Television and Wolf Entertainment produced.

Across its five season run, the drama - which saw Meloni reprising his Law & Order: SVU role as Detective Elliot Stabler - struggled to maintain a creative team at the helm. That resulted in Matt Olmstead, Ilene Chaiken, Barry O'Brien, Bryan Goluboff, Sean Jablonski, David Graziano, and Shiban all having stints helming episodes. That trend would have continued in a sixth team as Shiban previously announced he wouldn't return as showrunner. While a search occurred, a new head writer was never named.

Since the fifth season concluded, Meloni has signed on to portray the lead role in Hulu's upcoming NFL drama The Land created by Dan Fogelman.

The drama aired its first four seasons on NBC. In its fifth season, it transitioned to Peacock with only a 10-episode order. Its final season eventually had a linear run on the broadcast network later on. Its viewership numbers on both platforms ultimately weren't strong enough to continue.
