"Bridgerton" Prequel Centering on Young Lady Violet Lands Series Order at Netflix

The Bridgerton universe is expanding on Netflix. Today, the streamer announced a series order for an untitled prequel series focusing on young Lady Violet.

Similar to the global hit Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the untitled series will chronicle the early life of a young Lady Violet and tell the story of her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton.

Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini developed the series and will serve as co-showrunners. They will executive produce with Betsy Beers and director Tom Verica. Shondaland produces in association with Netflix.

Ruth Gemmell has portrayed Lady Violet Bridgerton - the mother of the eight Bridgerton siblings - in all four seasons of Bridgerton. The original series has already been renewed for its fifth and sixth seasons. Rupert Evans portrayed Edmund Bridgerton in one episode of the drama's second season. And finally, a young Lady Violet was played by Connie Jenkins-Greig on a recurring basis in Queen Charlotte.
