CBS Picks Up 'Elementary,' 'Vegas,' 'Golden Boy,' 'Made in Jersey,' 'Partners' & 'Friend Me'; Renews 'CSI: NY'; Cancels 'CSI: Miami,' 'Unforgettable,' 'A Gifted Man' & 'Rob'

Up until this point, CBS has been very quiet with handing out series orders to its new potential pilots unlike the rest of the broadcast networks. However, this morning it was announced that the network will be picking up four new dramas, two new comedies and one reality series for next season.

The 4 Drama Pickups are:

Elementary - stars Jonny Lee Miller as a present day Sherlock Holmes living in New York City aided by his sidekick, Joan Watson, played by Lucy Liu. Aidan Quinn co-stars. The pilot was written by Robert Doherty and directed by Michael Cuesta. Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly will also produce.

Made in Jersey (formerly Baby Big Shot) - A legal drama that centers on a working-class woman (Janet Montgomery) who uses her street smarts to compete with her more polished colleagues at a top New York law firm. Stephanie March, Kyle MacLachlan, Erin Cummings and Pable Schreiber co-star. Kevin Falls will serve as showrunner while Dana Calvo, Jamie Tarses and Julia Franz will executive produce.

Golden Boy - The cop drama centers on one cop's meteoric rise from officer to detective to police commissioner played by Theo James. Holt McCallany, Bonnie Somerville, Chi McBride, Kevin Alejandro and Stella Maeva co-star. Nicholas Wooten wrote the pilot and will serve as showrunner with Greg Berlanti, Melissa Kellner Berman and Richard Shepard executive producing.

Vegas (formerly Ralph Lamb) - This 1960s set period piece centers on the true story of Ralph Lamb (Dennis Quaid) - rodeo cowboy turned longtime Sheriff of Las Vegas. Michael Chiklis, Jason O'Mara, Carrie-Anne Moss and Taylor Handley co-star. Nicholas Pileggi and Greg Walker are writers and executive producers.

The 2 Comedy Pickups are:

Friend Me - A multi-camera comedy that centers on two twenty-something best friends (Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Nicholas Braun) who move from Indiana to L.A. to begin their new lives working at Groupon but it turns out that some old habits are hard to break in the new city. Parvesh Cheena, Tim Robinson and Dan Ahdoot co-star. Alan Kirschenbaum, Ajay Sahgal and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum will executive produce.

Partners - This comedy revolves around architects Charlie (David Krumholtz) and Louis' (Michael Urie) friendship, which has lasted longer than any of their romantic relationships and almost feels like marriage. When Charlie decides to propose to his girlfriend (Sophia Bush), Louis' neurotic attempts to be supportive nearly result in the breakup of his own relationship. Brandon Routh co-stars. This project comes from writer-producers Max Mutchnick and David Kohan.

The 1 Reality Series Pickup is:

The Job - The show is hosted by Lisa Ling and features five contestants who compete for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to land their dream job at one of America's most prestigious companies. Michael Davies, Mark Burnett and James Sunderland are executive producing the project.

UPDATE 12:15 PM - It has now been announced that CBS has decided to cancel the long-running drama CSI: Miami as well as freshmen tryouts Unforgettable and A Gifted Man.

UPDATE (2) 12:40 PM - CSI: NY, the youngest series in the CSI franchise, has been renewed for another season while the critically-panned midseason comedy Rob has been cancelled.
