CBS' Bunker Hill & Superior Donuts; FOX's The Exorcist; and NBC's Good Fortune, Midnight, Texas, Miranda's Rights, The Trail & Untitled Charlie Grandy Project.




NBC's MIRANDA'S RIGHTS
  • The broadcast network has ordered a pilot for drama Miranda's Rights written by Katie Lovejoy. She executive produces with John Glenn. Universal Television produces. The project centers on an idealistic group of lawyers who not only work together but live together at their start-up law firm.
NBC's MIDNIGHT, TEXAS
  • The network has also ordered a pilot for drama Midnight, Texas based on the book trilogy of the same name by Charlaine Harris. Monica Owusu-Breen will write the pilot, and executive produce with Harris and David Janollari. Universal Television produces. The project takes place in Midnight, Texas, a remote town where your neighbor could be a vampire, a witch, a werewolf, and even an angel. Mystery, horror and romance combine to both enthrall and frighten any outsiders who decide to venture into this unusual place.
CBS' BUNKER HILL
  • The network has ordered a pilot for drama Bunker Hill written by Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood). Katims executive produces with Michelle Lee. CBS Television Studios, Universal Television and True Jack Productions will produce. The project follows a young Silicon Valley tech titan who enlists a veteran surgeon with a controversial past in starting a hospital with a cutting edge, "new school" approach to medicine.
CBS' SUPERIOR DONUTS
  • The network has also picked up a pilot for multi-camera comedy Superior Donuts based on the Broadway play by Tracy Letts. Neil Goldman, Garrett Donovan and Bob Daily are writing the pilot. All three executive produce with Mark Teitelbaum and John Montgomery. CBS Television Studios will produce. The project follows the relationship between the owner of a donut shop, his new young employee and their patrons in a gentrified Chicago neighborhood.
FOX's THE EXORCIST
  • FOX is also getting in on the pilot orders today - by ordering one for drama The Exorcist, a modern reinvention of the 1971 book by William Blatty. Jeremy Slater wrote the pilot, and executive produces with Morgan Creek, James Robinson, David Robinson and Barbara Wall. 20th Century Fox Television and Morgan Creek Productions will produce. The project is described as a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family's case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil.
NBC's UNTITLED CHARLIE GRANDY PROJECT
  • NBC continues to hand out comedy pilot orders - first up is an untitled single camera comedy written by Charlie Grandy (The Mindy Project). Grandy executive produces with Amy Poehler, Dave Becky and Brooke Posch. Universal Television, Paper Kite Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment will produce. After years of partying that earned him the "black sheep" label, Karl - a reluctant prince - returns home to compete with his brother for the family throne.
NBC's THE TRAIL
  • The next comedy pilot order at NBC today is for the single-camera project The Trail written by Jeff Astrof (Ground Floor) and Matt Miller (Forever). Warner Bros. Television will produce. The project is a serialized comedy following a young big-city lawyer and his oddball defense team during a high profile murder trial in a small southern town.
NBC's GOOD FORTUNE
  • The final comedy pilot order at NBC today is for the multi-camera project Good Fortune written by Matt Zinman and Craig Gerard (Telenovela). The duo executive produce with Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. 20th Century Fox Television and Le Train Train will produce. The project focuses on a hyper-structured young woman whose life is upended when she starts taking advice from a mysterious fortune teller.
