This has been a particularly breakout summer for the first season of Netflix's new drama Stranger Things. And now, the streaming service has finally renewed the period drama for a second season. The new season will include 9 episodes and debut sometime in 2017.
The drama stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono and Matthew Modine. Most of the cast is expected to return for the second season. However, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer are staying pretty coy about Brown's involvement in the new season.
The Duffer Brothers serve as executive producers with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen. 21 Laps Entertainment and Monkey Massacre produce.
Details are still being released about the new season. Here's what we know so far: The action will pick up in the fall of 1984 exactly one year after the events of the first season finale; four new characters are slotted to join the cast; the action will travel outside of Hawkins, Indiana; and the Upside Down world will be furthered explored.
