DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television are teaming for a new digital service set to launch in 2018. In preparation for the launch, the first two series offered on the platform have been announced: the anticipated third season of Young Justice and a live-action series Titans.
Titans follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. The series centers on Dick Grayson as he emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others.
The drama is an adaptation of the comic book series, which launched in the early 1960s. Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman and Geoff Johns are writing the adaptation. They executive produce with Sarah Schechter. Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions and Weed Road Pictures will produce.
The move for the Young Justice animated series comes after two seasons on Cartoon Network, airing from 2011-2013. The new season, titled Young Justice: Outsiders, centers on the teenage superheroes of the DC Universe come of age in an animated world of super-powers, super-villains and super secrets. In Season 3, the team faces its greatest challenge yet as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy.
Sam Register, Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman serve as executive producers. Emmy winner Phil Bourassa will return as the series' art director as well.
