Casting News - May 2, 2018

The CW's Arrow & Riverdale; and HBO's Lovecraft Country.

THE CW's ARROW
  • Paul Blackthorne will exit the cast of the drama at the conclusion of its sixth season. Blackthorne has starred on the show since its series premiere. His exit means that Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy and David Ramsey are the only actors from the pilot who still star on the drama - though Cassidy's character was killed off at the end of the fourth season and she came back as a new character near the conclusion of the fifth before returning as a series regular in the sixth.
  • Blackthorne plays Quentin Lance, Laurel (Cassidy) and Sara Lance's (Legends of Tomorrow regular Caity Lotz) father. He is a former detective who serves as the Mayor of Star City now that Oliver (Amell) is standing trial for vigilantism once more.
THE CW's RIVERDALE
  • Vanessa Morgan and Charles Melton have been promoted to series regulars for the drama's upcoming third season. Both actors joined the cast as recurring at the start of the current second season.
  • Morgan plays Toni Topaz, a bisexual member of the Southside Serpents who befriends Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch).
  • Melton plays Reggie Mantle, Archier's (KJ Apa) longtime friend and rival on the football team and the town prankster. The character was seen in the first season but played by Ross Butler who had to exit the cast due to his regular commitments to Netflix's 13 Reasons Why.
HBO's LOVECRAFT COUNTRY
  • Jonathan Majors has been cast as the male lead opposite Jurnee Smollett-Bell on the upcoming drama created by Misha Green. His casting reunites him with director Yann Demange after starring in the upcoming film White Boy Rock. He also co-starred in the film Hostiles and the ABC miniseries When We Rise.
  • He will play Atticus Black, a Korean war vet who always has a pulp novel in his back pocket, and wears his heart on his sleeve despite the daily injustice of living in Jim Crow America. He joins up with his friend Letitia (Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip in search of his missing father.
