Casting News - August 17, 2018

Apple's Untitled Hilde Lysiak Drama; FOX's Star; Netflix's Mr. Iglesias & Santa Clarita Diet; and TNT's Snowpiercer.

  • Jacob Vargas, Maggie Geha and Cree Cicchino will co-star on the upcoming comedy co-created by and starring Gabriel Iglesias. Vargas recurred for two seasons on FX's Sons of Anarchy. Geha starred for one season in FOX's Gotham. Cicchino starred for three seasons in Nickelodeon's Game Shakers.
  • Vargas will play Tony Medina, Gabe's (Iglesias) longtime best friend and fellow teacher at the high school.
  • Geha will play Abby, another teacher at the school who is idealistic antidote to Tony. She is genuinely excited - almost annoyingly so - to be shaping the future through her teaching.
  • Cicchino will play Marisol Fuentes, a 16-year-old determined yet overworked student.
  • William Levy has joined the cast of the drama's upcoming third season as a new series regular. His telenovela credits include Cuidado con el Angel, Triunfo del Amor and La Tempestad. He also competed on the fourteenth season of ABC's Dancing With the Stars, finishing in third place.
  • He will play Mateo Ferrera, a driven media mogul who can charm the devil into church. He is rich, successful, smooth as silk and married to his equal, Nina Ferrera (Camila Banus). He makes and breaks his own rules as he sprints towards success. The first generation son of immigrant parents, he is determined to make his mark and build his legacy by any means necessary.
  • Steven Ogg has booked a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs. He starred for two seasons in AMC's The Walking Dead.
  • He will play Pike, a hardened and battle-scarred career convict who was serving time in Cook County Jail for armed robbery at the time of the Freeze but escaped. He is a leader in the Tail and a warrior for his people.
  • Shalita Grant has landed a recurring role on the comedy's upcoming third season. She recently starred for three seasons in CBS' NCIS: New Orleans.
  • She will play Tess Rogers, an FBI agent who is looking into a recent explosion at a fracking site in Santa Clarita.
  • Brooklynn Prince will play the lead role on the upcoming drama created by Dana Fox and Dara Desnik. This marks the first television role for Prince who gave a breakout and acclaimed performance in last year's Academy Award-nominated film The Florida Project. For her performance, she won the Critics' Choice Award for Best Young Performer.
  • Based on the real-life story of 11-year-old Hilde Lysiak, the drama follows a young girl (Prince) who moves from Brooklyn to the small lakeside town her father left behind. While there, her dogged pursuit of the truth leads her to unearth a cold case that everyone in town, including her own father, tries hard to bury.
