HBO Gives Series Order to Drama 'Watchmen' Starring Regina King, Don Johnson and Jeremy Irons

Shortly after completing production on the pilot, HBO has officially given a series order to the original drama series Watchmen based on Alan Moore's graphic novel. The drama is expected to premiere sometime in 2019.

Set in an alternate history where "superheroes" are treated as outlaws, the drama embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.

The drama stars Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Adelynn Spoon, Lily Rose Smith and Jeremy Irons.

Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers) wrote the pilot, which was directed by Nicole Kassell. They executive produce with Tom Spezialy, Stephen Williams and Joseph Iberti. Warner Bros. Television and White Rabbit Productions produce.
