CBS All Access has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks.
The 10-episode first season will debut on Thursday, August 6, with new episodes being released weekly. The animated comedy has already been renewed for a second season.
The series follows the support crew serving on one of Starfleet's least important ships, the U.S.S. Cerritos, in 2380. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi have to keep up with their duties and their social lives, often while the ship is being rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies.
The voice cast features Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, Eugene Cordero, Dawnn Lewis, Jerry O'Connell, Fred Tatasciore and Gillian Vigman.
Mike McMahan created the series. He executive produces with Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth and Katie Krentz. Aaron Baiers serves as co-executive producer. CBS Eye Animation Productions, Secret Hideout, Roddenberry Entertainment and 219 Productions produce.
