Casting News - Guy Pearce Reunites with Kate Winslet for HBO's 'Mare of Easttown'; Plus 3 More Updates!

Casting News - February 9, 2021

ABC's Rebel; The CW's Dynasty; HBO's Mare of Easttown; and National Geographic's The Hot Zone: Anthrax.

THE CW's DYNASTY
  • Luke Cook has been cast in a recurring role on the drama's upcoming fourth season. He previously had a recurring role on Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
  • He will play Oliver, Kirby's (Maddison Brown) ex-beau from Australia, a photographer who has come to town for a shoot, but has ulterior motives. They reconnect but his late-night partying and drug habit quickly take Kirby down a dangerous road.
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC's THE HOT ZONE: ANTHRAX
  • Harry Hamlin and Dylan Baker have joined the cast of the upcoming second installment of the anthology series. Hamlin was nominated for an Emmy Award for his recurring role on AMC's Mad Men. Baker received three Emmy Award nominations for his recurring role on CBS' The Good Wife.
  • Hamlin will play Tom Brokaw, the respected journalist and anchor for NBC News. On camera, he is the steady voice of reason for a post-9/11 nation. Off camera, he is a protective father figure to those who work for him. Brokaw himself became a part of the anthrax story when a letter addressed to him contained a lethal amount of anthrax, sickening two of his assistants.
  • Baker will play Ed Copak, a high-ranking FBI lifer. His department is rocked by the recent events of 9/11 and is now charged with finding the anthrax killer. He feels the weight of responsibility for getting justice for a wounded nation.
HBO's MARE OF EASTTOWN
  • Guy Pearce will co-star on the upcoming limited series starring Kate Winslet. He and Winslet reunite a decade after they worked together on HBO's Mildred Pierce, where they both won Emmy Awards for their performances. He recently appeared in the films Mary, Queen of Scots and Bloodshot.
  • He will play Richard Ryan, a visiting creative writing professor who wrote a dazzling novel that won the National Book Award 25 years ago, but he has never lived up to his early promise.
ABC's REBEL
  • Mary McDonnell, Adam Arkin, Matthew Glave and Jalen Thomas Brooks have booked recurring roles on the upcoming drama starring Katey Sagal. McDonnell starred for four seasons in Syfy's Battlestar Galactica and six seasons in TNT's Major Crimes. Arkin starred for six seasons in CBS' Chicago Hope. Glave has recurred on TBS' Angie Tribeca, ABC's The Rookie and FX's Better Things. Brooks recurs on the upcoming fifth season of TNT's Animal Kingdom.
  • McDonnell will play Helen. Inspired by Rebel (Sagal), she doesn't let her own illness define her as she and her daughter (Daniella Garcia) fight for their lives and for justice.
  • Arkin will play Mark Duncan, the CEO of the Stonemore Medical Corporation. A silver fox, he markets himself as an altruist and a philanthropist. He strongly reflects Rebel's assertion that his heart valve is doing harm.
  • Glave will play Woodrow Flynn, a beat cop who sometimes helps Rebel in her work. He was Rebel's first husband and is Nate's (Kevin Zegers) father.
  • Brooks will play Sean, a sexy bad boy who is a member of Ziggie's (Ariela Barer) Narcotics Anonymous group. He is pretty obviously into her - even though they both know it's a bad idea to date in the first year of recovery.
